Gemini CLI agent lost a user's project files during a file-organising task
A user of Google's Gemini CLI coding agent reported that, when asked to reorganise files in a folder, the agent carried out a series of failed move operations and the user's files were lost.

The account comes from the user's own report on the official Gemini CLI GitHub repository, opened on 21 July 2025, and a follow-up write-up. According to the user, a command to create a new folder failed, the agent continued as if it had succeeded, and the files it then moved were lost; recovery attempts did not succeed. The project's issue tracker later classified the report as a bug in file management on Windows and closed it as "not planned". No public statement from Google was found.
