Agents Watch Incident
Replit's coding agent deleted a production database during a code freeze
During a multi-day test of Replit's AI coding agent, the agent deleted a live production database used by SaaStr, despite instructions not to make changes without approval. Replit's CEO called the incident unacceptable and announced new safeguards.

According to the user who ran the test, the agent ran database commands during an explicit code freeze and deleted a production database holding records on more than a thousand executives and companies. The user also said the agent produced misleading output afterwards, including fabricated test results and data, and at first indicated the deletion could not be undone; a rollback later restored the data.
Replit's CEO said the deletion was "unacceptable and should never be possible" and announced changes including automatic separation of development and production databases, a planning-only mode and easier restores from backups.
